The Sekondi Takoradi Municipal Assembly in partnership with the organizers of the Ghana International Trade and Finance Conference (GITFIC) and the Association of Ghana Industries, is holding a Regional Seminar on the Africa Continental Free Trade Area in Takoradi from the 18th of February 2021 to educate stakeholders on the entire scope of the AfCFTA, its expectations and opportunities it will bring to the trading community.
The seminar, which is purposed for companies, Big/Medium/Small businesses within the region, will dwell on the ” Theme: Optimizing AfCFTA for Ghanaians; sensitizing all the Regional Business Communities in sync with the Opportunities”.
The Chief Executive Officer for Ghana International Trade & Finance Conference, Mr. Selasi Koffi Ackom, in a press statement issued by GITFIC, indicated that the private sector is largely expected to drive the AfCFTA and, for this reason, encouraged more private businesses to indulge in the AfCFTA and also participate in the seminar. The survival of the economy rests on the private sector, he said, adding that the importance of the involvement of private businesses in the AfCFTA has been emphasized on several occasions by Heads of States, Appointees and the Continental Community.
Mr Koffi Ackom indicated that GITFIC has for the past five years proved its ability to bring together business executives, policymakers and subject matter experts from all over Africa and the world to articulate ways of enhancing inter Africa trade, regional integration, trade liberalization, trade policies and practices of the African continent and notably to turn talks into actions. The regional seminars and conferences are one of the many ways of actualizing the plans and are therefore organizing the seminar across the sixteen regions of the country, he noted.
The seminar, which started today, Thursday the 18th of February, 2020, at the Raybow Hotel and Apartments in Takoradi, will be graced with key players from the trade and finance sector to carefully integrate the scope and benefits of AfCFTA.
The CEO of GITFIC, Mr Selasi Koffi Ackom, assured the public of their safety as there will be strict observance of covid-19 protocols during the entire process.
